Neil Strother is a principal research analyst contributing to Navigant Research’s Utility Transformations program, with a focus on the Internet of Things (IoT) trend, smart metering technologies, and home energy management (HEM) solutions. Strother has an extensive background in market intelligence (more than 16 years) focused on emerging technologies.

Strother is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and is regularly quoted in major publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Economist, and Bloomberg. Prior to joining Navigant Research, Strother was practice director of mobile services at ABI Research. He previously held senior analyst positions at Forrester, and NPD. He was also the managing editor of ZDNet AnchorDesk. Strother holds an MS from Northwestern University and a BA from Whitman College.

Modular builders have taken the art of prefabrication to an entirely new level, where entire rooms with insulation, plumbing, and electric wiring are made in a factory. These rooms (called “modules”) are transported to a building site and then stacked next to and on top of one another to form a home in days. In the Hamptons, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and other major cities, it’s now possible to build a beautiful modern home modularly for as much as 50% the cost of building with local contractors.
