Co-founder & CEO of Minut

Nils Mattisson is CEO and Cofounder of Minut, a home security startup with presence in Sweden and Shenzhen. Nils earned his M.Sc degree from Lund University in Sweden before moving to California to join the Exploratory Design Group at Apple. Nils joined Apple in 2006 and stayed until starting Minut in 2013.

Minut is pioneering a new approach to home security that unlike surveillance cameras allows people to have both peace of mind and privacy. It’s enabled by it’s innovative sensor Point that combines sound and sensor data with machine learning to identify anomalies in a home environment. When Point detects an event it alerts the family and their community who can respond. Point was launched to wide acclaim in 2015 and has been featured by CNN, Wired, TechCrunch among many others.

The Rise of Factory-built Housing: Episode 2

Modular builders have taken the art of prefabrication to an entirely new level, where entire rooms with insulation, plumbing, and electric wiring are made in a factory. These rooms (called “modules”) are transported to a building site and then stacked next to and on top of one another to form a home in days. In the Hamptons, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and other major cities, it’s now possible to build a beautiful modern home modularly for as much as 50% the cost of building with local contractors.
